I went to school in Scotland, so didn’t do GSCEs. I studied biology at Scottish higher level and personally did not find it hard at all, but very enjoyable! I suppose it all depends upon what you like though and where your strengths lie. We had to do mini essay questions on a regular basis, so being good at writing clearly is helpful, but surprisingly, you don’t have to be too good at maths!
Dear Lozzy12345, I did not go to school in the UK. I would like to comment on Marlene’s comment on math. It may appear at school math is not required for biology but when you go to university you will discover that math is a bigger part of biology than you might think. In particular we use statistics all the time to analyse our experiments. A good math training is clearly a plus in case you want to become a biologist.
I didn’t do a single biology GCSE – I did double science – so probably not that dissimilar to doing a biology GCSE. I found it to be the easiest part of science, but it got a lot harder at AS and A-level.
