The structure above our earlobes help us to better locate the source of a sound. We have two ears and our brain can find out if a sound is on the left or on the right. The earlobes can help us to find out if the sound is in the back or in the front. When you hear a sound and you move the head a little bit, the location of the sound gets better. It is interesting to note that certain sounds, like a single tone, are very difficult to locate, while complex sounds are much easier to locate. The earlobes can sense when they get into contact with an object.
