I am a cancer research scientist, currently looking mainly at why people get leukaemia. I also look for ways which we can use less toxic drugs which are suited to each cancer patient, rather than giving everybody the same drugs even though their cancers are different.

My Typical Day:

My typical day normally involves a bit of time in the various labs in the institute. Often I am feeding cells in a room called ’tissue culture’ where we grow cancer cells in petri dishes, but also spending a bit of time on the computer analysing the results from my experiment and writing my lab book so i can remember what I have done!

What I'd do with the prize money:
Design booklets for schools for cool experiments to do in science lessons/clubs.
