      Incredible indoors for me!

I love the outdoors, and I do a lot of sports and things out there. But when it comes to work I like to be warm, with coffee and my headphones.

I did a lot of outdoors work in my biology degree, including catching and measuring badgers! I’m happy to not do that any more though.

Most of my work is in the incredible indoors, but I do enjoy doing field trips in the outstanding outdoors!

I like outdoors to relax in order to go back indoors with fresh energy.

Unfortunately all of my work has to be done inside. Mostly because the human cells I grow for my experiments have to be grown in a completely germ-free environment – so we use special cabinets to grow these in. They wouldn’t work very well outside! Also I use quite a lot of dangerous chemicals, and we have to dispose of these in special ways to make sure that they don’t cause harm to the environment, so working outside – I couldn’t make sure that this would happen.

Outstanding outdoors, but unfortunately all of my work is done inside the lab 🙁 I do get the chance to go out and about on trips with colleagues in the graduate school though, doing things like powerboat driving, scuba diving and white water rafting!
