I have been to school to talk about my research a few times. I used to run a regular school clubs where a group of scientists went into school to talk about their science and do some science experiments. It was a lot of fun for us and hopefully the students felt the same!

No, I haven’t yet. I’d be interested in trying it at some point though.

We do run public engagements events usually as part of local science festival events. A lot of school kids come to our events. We also run events for school classes at our university once a year. You can find more on our events on this web page (http://www.mig.ls.manchester.ac.uk/publicactivities/).

Nope, only at some conferences and I worked on a stand at the Edinburgh Science Festival for a week this year which was fun by the people who fund my PhD. The festival was a great chance to interact with members of the public with an interest in marine science!

      Hello!

Not quite – however we do sometimes have students in to see the labs, and we sometimes have college students in, who are interested in doing science as a career. I am going to a school later this month to do a talk – followed by them asking me questions about my career though – so I’m looking forward to that!
