We have found out how the immune system is regulated in the gut (at least a few important findings there). We also determined the genes that are needed for lymphocytes to migrate to the gut.

We have identified a gene in Atlatnic salmon which has 2 copies compared to only 1 in other fishes, birds and mammals. The cool thing about this is that the 2 copies seem to have evolved different functions since they were duplicated. We are now working on finding out how they achieve these different functions as their DNA sequences are very similar!
