I didn’t realise that I wanted to be a scientist until I was 19, although I did enjoy science at school and studied them at higher level so it allowed me to do a marine biology degree at university 🙂

A good question! I chose to study science at university when I was 17, but I then went away and did other things (they were related to science, but I wouldn’t have called myself a ‘scientist’!).

I was 25 when I decided to go back to university to train as a proper research scientist. There are other things I want to do though, so I’m not sure how long I’ll stay as one!

May be at the age of about 10. I liked reading science books and popular science journal. Also TV programs were very good. I was more fascinated by astronauts and I knew all details about the rockets that were used to go out to space. I have forgotten these details now.

I have liked science for as long as I can remember, but when I made a significant decision about what I wanted to do – i was about 20. It was after my undergraduate research project at university – and my supervisor urged me to continue with my studies as he thought I was a promising young scientist. At the moment I’m really happy being a scientist, but I’m not sure if it’s what I want to do for the rest of my life. I really like science writing and communication, so might consider doing something to do with that in the future.
