Good question! We already know that fishes know what season it is as they do certain things in different seasons, although they probably don’t called them winter, spring, summer and autumn! What we want to find out is how they know this. We know that they respond to changes in daylength and we are looking at which genes are turned on in response to changing daylength, and what these genes do to the biology of the fish.
