I answered a similar question. It is a good question. My favourite scientist is Robert Koch. You can read about his achievements here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Koch.
My favourite scientist is Charles Darwin. He discovered Evolution and I think he thought outside of the box and was very brave. There was another guy called Wallace who had the same ideas but didn’t have as much evidence. He seems like a very cool scientist too!
I’m going to pick a man called Ronald Fisher. In the 1930s Fisher helped to develop what we call ‘The Modern Synthesis’, which is basically the recipe for how we think about genetics today. He also invented a lot of cool mathematical tricks. Genetics wouldn’t be the same without him!
Carla, it might be worth to study the story of Mary Anning. There is a recent fiction book published in the USA, I heard a report on it but did not have time to read it. You find more about here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Anning . May be a good example about a women that was not part of the men only scientific community at the time.
