• Question: why is Ice clear and snow white?

      Most likely the surface area makes the difference. Ice has a smooth surface and light goes through. Snow white has a rough surface and a lot of light is reflected.

      Like Werner said, it is because of how they are formed. Snow has lots of air bubbles which means light is reflected making it white, while ice is smooth.
